East McDowell Junior High ~ Belief Statement
We, the faculty and staff of East McDowell Junior High, believe our mission is to craft a school where students, faculty, parents, and the community, join together to create a safe, nurturing and productive environment conductive to learning.
We believe that in order to make a positive impact in the lives of our students, we must first subscribe to the idea that education is paramount to success.
We believe that teachers should be competent in teaching practices, highly knowledgeable of their subject, and possess a love and respect of children.
We believe that all children can learn, grow, and develop into citizens of integrity who will themselves become lifelong learners and meaningful contributors to society.
We believe students should be responsible for their behavior and held accountable for their misbehavior. We believe in a firm, fair, consistent yet dignified discipline policy.
We believe that all teachers should teach a standards-based curriculum to optimize student success. We believe in utilizing test data to make informed decisions about enrichment, remediation, and intervention strategies.
We believe that by having expectations of our students and ourselves we can obtain success through honest effort and dedication to personal goals.
We believe, above all, that our students are bright, creative, and exceptional.
They are the future.
